A boy and his bike.

Instead of birthday cake on Carson's actual birthday I convinced them that DQ was way better. Carson tried to argue with me that he "needed a birthday cake" but my pregnancy determination was successful in convincing him he did not. This mama was "caked" out. So before presents we stopped at DQ for some chocolate dipped cone goodness.

Opening presents.

Trying on the new helmet.

Trying out the new bike.

He's pretty shaky on it but wants to get on there.....every 5 minutes. So we keep practicing.

And of course Declan can't get by without his turn.

Happy Birthday Carson

I can't believe my baby is 4. Four years ago today we became parents and I remember it as if it was yesterday. I remember laying there for what felt like minutes until they final announced, "It's a Boy!" And we were introduced to a 9lb 6oz healthy baby boy that would forever change our lives.

A baby that would turn into a little boy who every morning around 5am quietly enters our room and asks to sleep with his daddy. A baby who now asks for peanut butter and jelly every day for lunch. A baby who now says Please and Thank You after everything (including me wishing him a Happy Birthday this morning). A baby who tonight will be the proud owner of a 16 inch bike without training wheels. A baby who in just 17 months from now will enter Kindergarten. A baby who is so very much looking forward to the arrival of his new brother or sister (he would prefer a brother!).

Carson you are the light of our world. You have brought your daddy and I so much joy. We are so proud of you and today we wish you a very Happy 4th Birthday! We love you Little Man!

Yesterday it was Carson's turn to bring birthday treats to school. Which also means he gets to be Line Leader, a position that is highly guarded in the preschool world. All his preschool friends sang Happy Birthday to him and he was enthroned with a sticker and a birthday hat!

We celebrated Carson's birthday last weekend. We headed to Space Aliens for dinner and some games.

Aunt Georgia and Declan being silly.

Carson wanted a Transformer Cake. We convinced him that doing a Decepticon symbol was the best (and easisest). It supposed to be purple but we didn't have the right food coloring so we convinced him that green would work.

Declan helping Carson open his presents.

A new Transformer.

Another new Transformer.

A baseball glove.

And a bat to go with.

Artists

We took the boys to a pottery store today to paint some birthday plates. I let them chose their plates, paint and stamps. Now they will have a special plate for their birthday or any other special occasion.

Happy Birthday Declan

Declan -

Happy 2nd Birthday! I can hardly believe you are already 2. While I know these early years go fast for most parents, yours have sailed by. Since your birth we have started a new job, moved to a new state, sold our old house, moved 3 times and bought a new house. It's been a little chaotic to say the least. But I've enjoyed every minute of it.

You are the most talkative, stubborn, strong-willed little boy I know. Your our book reader, non-tv watcher, salad eater and do-it-youselfer. You challenge your dad and I in ways we never knew were possible. You absolutely adore your big brother. When he is at school you ask repeatedly when we are going to pick him up. And when you sleep late in the morning Carson always asks when we can go wake you up. It is a connection that I know will only grow stronger.

So Happy Birthday my little boy. You are such a blessing to our family. I look forward to all your years ahead.

A Birthday Party

Sunday we celebrated Declan's birthday with the grandparents.

He's really going to be 2 on Friday? Where did the time go?

Checking out the party goods.

Someone enjoyed the attention.

But not the cupcakes because he didn't even lick the frosting.

But Carson loved them or at least loved the frosting.

Presents!

A New Car.

That has now found its home in my living room. Isn't this supposed to be an outside toy? I don't think he has gotten out of it since Sunday. Today at nap he asked to sleep with it.

Happy 3rd Birthday Carson

It's hard to believe that 3 years ago today we became parents. Trevor and I have been reminiscing the last couple of days of what it was like 3 years ago our eagerness to meet our first born, the excitement of finding out the sex, trying to change diapers for the first time (that was Trevor, not me), watching 4 VERY excited people become grandparents for the first time and loving him like nothing else from the moment he was born. What a blessing he has been and oh how he has changed our lives.

The funniest memory I have from those first few days in the hospital was watching Trevor change a diaper for the first time. It was just hours after he was born and it was just the 3 of us in the room. Trevor opened the diaper and Carson immediately peed on him. Then as he cleaned that up and got a new diaper and out came the black tar poop. Baptism by fire I guess.

Carson has decided that he is actually five today. His preschool teacher asked him how old he was and he promptly raised all five fingers and said, "This many." We stopped at the video store today so I could rent Juno, great movie if you haven't seen it. While we were there I decided to try and find a kids video game for Carson. He quickly picked out Cars. We came home and played it and I think its safe to say he may be addicted. I should have taken a picture and I'll try to later but he prefers to hold the controller upside down.

Here are some pictures from our birthday extravaganza this weekend.
